This is a portrait of Paul’s father who was a policeman for many years. He stands on a precipice overlooking the wilderness region of the Blue Mountains. The image is styled in the manner of photographs of the British Empire which often portray man as having conquered adversity whether it be wild animals, nature or their colonial interests.

This photograph was a finalist in the 2012 National Portrait Prize.
